Fiberlink Positioned in Leaders Quadrant for 2006 Managed Remote Access and Mobility Services Magic Quadrant

Top Analyst Firm Names Fiberlink a Leader Based on Completeness of Vision and Ability to Execute

BLUE BELL, Pa., July 13, 2006 – Today, research firm Gartner Inc. ranked Fiberlink Communications Corp. in the Leader quadrant in their “2006 U.S. Managed Mobility and Remote Access Magic Quadrant” report¹ .  Fiberlink is the trusted partner for enterprises that want to simplify and secure mobile working.

Gartner’s Magic Quadrant positions technology providers in a market ranking based on their completeness of vision, and ability to execute that vision. Leaders are vendors that have a complete package of remote and mobile worker solutions. On the business side, they are vendors that do not rely too much on dial-up access revenue. They also have easy-to-use access clients and policy management.

When it comes to execution, the key areas evaluated were: the ease of use and usefulness of the access client; the effectiveness of shifting from dial-up revenue to other revenue sources; the ease of central site policy and change management; and the completeness of the access and managed service portfolio. For completeness of vision, each vendor's 18-month plan was evaluated in the following areas: inclusion of new value-added services — such as productivity enhancements and Voice over IP (VoIP) — future expansion plans and future software development (with a key emphasis on making updates easier).

Fiberlink provides mobile access software, managed security services and enterprise professional services for the Global 2000. The company continues to strengthen its software and services business to meet the growing needs of its customers’ mobile workers as access options and security threats proliferate. Over the last year, Fiberlink has successfully extended its product portfolio beyond delivering aggregated network access to offer a comprehensive suite of software and services designed to help companies manage the many challenges that enterprise mobility presents.

“We are proud to be positioned in Gartner’s leaders quadrant.  We believe such recognition by a leading analyst firm is important confirmation that Fiberlink is executing effectively in this highly competitive marketplace,” said Fiberlink Chief Executive Officer Jim Sheward.  “We feel it also confirms that Fiberlink’s vision is sound as we continue to help our customers simplify and secure their mobile working environment in the years to come.”

“Fiberlink’s unified, open mobility platform is the framework that brings together the many elements of mobile access, security and cost control that enables our customers to confidently mobilize their employees,” said Skip Taylor, vice president product marketing.  "But, more than that, it is our deep expertise and the breadth of our managed services that enables Fiberlink to be a trusted partner of IT and deliver a mobility solution that truly fits their unique needs."
