Fiberlink Enables GSA to Easily Move to the Cloud for Device and Mobility Management

MaaS360 Deployed to 16,000 End Points in Less Than One Week, Driving Efficiency and Cost Reduction

Blue Bell, Pa.—April 19, 2011Fiberlink®, the Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) company, today announced that the United States General Services Administration (GSA) is leveraging Fiberlink's cloud-based MaaS360 platform to secure and manage its laptop and desktop computers. GSA is responsible for developing better ways for federal agencies to conduct business, resulting in more productive and effective operations. MaaS360 was selected by GSA as one of three cloud initiatives required by the Office of Management and Budget's new "Cloud First" policy - the government's cloud migration initiative - for its ability to increase efficiency and reduce federal operating costs.

In less than one week, GSA successfully rolled out MaaS360 solution to more than 16,000 endpoints. The next phase of the project is now underway and will involve nightly shutdown of workstations to conserve energy. Presently, GSA is evaluating the MaaS360 Control Service which will enable automated update of operating system patches, Windows application updates and antivirus signature files. The management of iPads, iPhones and Droids within the same MaaS360 platform is also being tested by GSA to meet security requirements in support of its move to Google-based email.

"MaaS360's true cloud-based approach is in perfect synch with our goals to reform federal IT management systems," said Thomas Eaton, ISSM at the Office of the Chief Information Officer of the United States. "MaaS360 will help reduce power consumption, secure data and reduce person-hours of labor, while successfully moving us away from legacy software systems."

MaaS360 is used by hundreds of enterprises and government agencies globally to manage and secure more than one million devices. With MaaS360, organizations can control smartphones, tablets, laptops and desktops, allowing IT to centrally apply policy and monitor compliance from one system. This enterprise-wide approach provides IT with a single, integrated view of all its devices, creating operational efficiencies, reducing support costs and enhancing the overall experience for employees.

"As the only mobile device management solution built from the ground up to deliver true SaaS for mobility, Fiberlink is uniquely positioned to satisfy the GSA's required move to a cloud-based platform," said Jeff Ward, vice president of Federal at Fiberlink. "MaaS360 instantly delivers comprehensive mobile device management capabilities from a single platform, enabling government agencies the fastest time-to-value in addressing OMB initiatives for Telework, Green IT, Continuous Monitoring and Cloud First."

In an effort to further support mobile device management for government agencies, Fiberlink participated in the Association for Federal Information Resources Management (AFFIRM) on April 14, 2011. The event included a feature a presentation titled AFFIRM & GITEC Present Government On The Move: An In-Depth Look At Mobility. During the session, attendees learned how government agencies plan to build enterprise mobile strategy and manage the enterprise mobile ecosystem.
