MaaS360 enables smarter and faster use of a customer’s existing PC Remote Control ApplicationsJune 28, 2010 (Blue Bell, PA) – Fiberlink Communications Corporation, the creator and developer of cloud-based Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) solutions, today announced that MaaS360® now integrates directly with a customer’s existing PC remote control and remote desktop applications. “For desktop managers and help desk staff, this means more help desk automation and reduced help desk costs. It’s a more natural way to connect to devices which are not within arm’s reach,” said Jonathan Dale, MaaS360 Senior Product Manager. “MaaS360 takes what you have already invested in and allows you to use it smarter and faster.” The past ten years of expanded mobile computing has led IT personnel to rely on tools for insight and assistance in supporting remote devices that are not always on the local LAN. PC remote control applications were specifically deployed to help reach out and connect to devices as easily as if the device were physically in front of support person. The lack of integration of these applications has caused desktop management and help desk support teams to lose valuable time and money. Some companies have even adopted additional support applications to obtain real-time IP address information, which is often necessary for remote applications like VNC. MaaS360’s Remote Device Control bridges the gap between “seeing” a problem and “taking action” on a device. MaaS360 can launch a remote control session with the customer’s existing remote control application without any additional tools or resources. In one click, MaaS360 presents both the device’s current IP address and a list of remote control applications that are available to connect to the device. One more click and the connection is automatically established. MaaS360 automates the most tedious and time consuming part of connecting to a remote PC. MaaS360’s Remote Device Control is another vendor- agnostic solution within the MaaS360 Platform that supports several of the top remote control applications. These applications include the very popular VNC applications (RealVNC, UltraVNC, TightVNC), DameWare, Microsoft Remote Desktop, and any web-based application which utilizes a URL such as Cisco’s Webex and Juniper SSL.
