Industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently reported that the so-called golden master version of the Apple's latest mobile operating system has been delivered to overseas manufacturers, giving indication that the release of the highly anticipated iPhone 5 is imminent. Kuo said that iOS 5.0 will be given to the assemblers some time between September 23 and 30, leading experts to believe the iPhone 5 will shortly follow in mid-October. The bit of information adds another layer of rumor to a long list regarding the upcoming Apple device. "A release of iOS 5 to assemblers the week of Sept. 23 means its likely finalized hardware units for the new iPhone and iPod touch will begin to ship at the end of September," according to a CNET report. With an estimated 10 to 12 days for shipping, the two new devices are likely to be available by mid-October." Consumers and businesses alike are eagerly awaiting the release of the iPhone 5, which is expected to give Apple's standing in both markets a boost. Still, a recent survey from ChangeWave revealed that demand remains strong for Apple's year-old iPhone 4. |
