Bolstering mobile security is simple

Sure the cyber attacks being launched against mobile devices are getting more sophisticated all the time, but, luckily for mobile users, protecting one's smartphone is actually a simple thing. InformationWeek recently published several tips for users to follow to ensure their devices remain protected, and all take little to no effort whatsoever. For example, the news provider advised users to lock their phones when not in use. All it takes is a password and a couple of buttons, and the information stored on a smartphone is protected. "The only way to truly, fully secure a smartphone is to protect the device, protect the data, and protect the apps on the device," data management expert John Dasher said. "If you don't do all three, inherently, the device is not secure." Also, the report warned users to avoid questionable apps. It doesn't get much simpler, if an app doesn't appear legitimate - or may be too good to be true - then it's best just to avoid it altogether. According to experts, companies that leverage smartphones and tablets should also implement a mobile device management program. By implementing clear policies, thorough employee education and quality software solutions, companies can be assured their data will be safe on mobile devices. |
