Report: Tablets make it easier to work, communicate

29 Aug 2011

Thanks to tablets, such as Apple's iPad and devices run on Google's Android, mobile professionals are becoming more productive and communicate better with each and their customers, according to a new survey.

Conducted by Staples Advantage, a division of the office supply store chain, 60 percent of 200 polled tablet users said they get more work done using the mobile device. Forty percent said remaining in contact with colleagues and customers was the main reason they purchased a device.

"Tablets offer fantastic convenience and a better work/life balance, making it easy for employees to keep information with them and utilize business apps, no matter where they go," said Ed Ludwigson, vice president and general manager for Staples Technology Solutions.

Other study results revealed that 75 percent of users check enterprise email on their tablets, while about 33 percent review and edit documents.

The exploding popularity of tablets appears endless, as a new report from forest industry analyst firm RISI revealed that tablet sales will reach 195 million units by 2015.
