Companies of various sizes and in all industries are now leveraging mobile devices, which means those that aren't risk falling behind the competition. No longer is a mobility program among the key differentiators for a company, according to a recent Forbes report authored by Forrester Research vice president Matt Brown. If they are utilizing smartphones, the chances are the competition is as well. These days companies must combine mobility with other new technologies, such as enterprise collaboration tools, enterprise video and the cloud, according to Brown. "Individual employees are able to put the latest mobile devices and apps to productive business use faster than their employers can," wrote Brown, meaning that such accessibility has added to the spread of mobility. By Forrester's count, 33 percent of the workforce can be categorized as "highly mobile," which allows them to be highly productive in the office, at home and on the road, according to Brown. However, the management of a program] could also help a company optimize mobile technology better than its competitors, according to experts. With mobile device management in place, organizations can better track the use and costs associated with mobility, making for a much more effective deployment. |
