As mobile technologies become more popular among businesses, organizations are beginning to worry about which device they should get and the operating system it should run on. However, some experts believe that the brand of the device won't matter as long as the organization uses it in an effective manner.

Maribel Lopez, the principal and founder of Lopez Research, recently explained to InformationWeek her interest in the growing desire for mobile devices. One of her interests is the development of gamification, or the use of game-play mechanics for non-game applications. Gamification utilizes social and mobile systems to capture user attention and draw people toward their websites or other resources, InformationWeek reported.

However, many businesses are failing to see the opportunity that these systems create. With a focus on smartphone management that adheres directly to the enterprise, an organization can benefit from using a number of different mobile devices, the news source reported.

Mobile devices can grant employees remote access to servers while enhancing business efficiency and creating a new edge against competing firms. According to a recent study by Forrester Research, nearly half of all business owners use smartphones for their organization, with one-third owning iPhones and one-quarter using Android-based devices.
