As more threats against mobile devices emerge, companies will continue to invest in security solutions to protect business-critical data, according to the results of a new report from Global Industry Analysts.

The market research firm predicted that the market for mobile security tools will reach $14.4 billion by 2017, namely because of the rapid adoption rates for smartphones and other mobile devices. The attention paid to the devices by hackers is increasing as more people are using them, GIA stated.

"Security issues have taken on extreme importance in recent years, which is not surprising given the mobile phone's transition from a humble voice communication device to a multifaceted, multitasking, multimedia device capable of functioning as a tool for personal expression, enterprise computing and entertainment, among others," the report said.

Currently, GIA found, the Asia-Pacific region is among the strongest markets for mobile security solutions.

Data security is an important facet of a mobile device management solution, especially considering that IT Pro recently said protecting the information on smartphones and tablets is one of the top IT challenges faced by all companies.
