Enterprise spending on wireless services is set to increase during the next several years as more companies move away from traditional voice-only contracts to embrace more messaging and data capabilities, according to a new report from In-Stat.

Overall, companies of all sizes figure to spend an average of 37 percent more on voice, messaging and data services by 2015, the research firm's latest report predicted. Spend growth will be especially common among mid-size companies, the report found, as these organization will spend an average of 44 percent more.

"Across all sizes of business, more and more businesses are realizing the benefits of having data access in their wireless handsets," Greg Potter, In-Stat industry analyst said. "It allows their employees to work both on the road and at home, having access to email and other business applications from their smartphone, which enables them to be connected and more efficient."

The report also revealed that this trend will be most common in the administrative and support services, healthcare and social services and education verticals.

Experts agree that companies should deploy a mobile device management solution to ensure that resources for higher services spending are allocated properly.
