Cloud in mobile technologies to help enterprises

31 Aug 2011

Mobile devices are becoming increasingly popular among individuals and businesses, and if their use continues growing at the current rate, there will be roughly one mobile device per person on the planet by 2015, according to Cisco. With the growing use of the technologies, the demand for space also accumulates.

However, with cloud computing transitioning toward mobile devices, space and storage concerns may soon be problems of the past. Through the cloud, an organization can grant remote access to data for its employees, enabling the company to rely less on physical storage solutions, according to FOX Business.

Security is one of the most important aspects of an enterprise, and the protection of data is becoming a priority in mobile device technology. With a proper mobile management policy in place, IT administrators can control who accesses certain information in the cloud from their smartphones and tablets to ensure that data remains safe, the news source reported.

In some cases, the increase in tablet usage has also helped enterprises reduce expenses. According to a study by Forrester Research, 27 percent of tablet owners are using desktop computers less often than they used to. This means that enterprises are tired of being tied down to wire connections, driving more organizations to seek alternatives in mobile technologies.
