As three powerful families of devices battle to usurp the others with larger screens, faster processors and more features, it has left the kingdom in great turmoil on who they should trust as the most benevolent ruler of productivity.

There appears to be a bug in the iOS 5 code where if the iCloud feature is enabled, the battery of the phone is consumed at an alarming rate.  You can actually watch the battery percentage decrease in real time.

Setting up iCloud and iOS 5 on an iPhone

If you have an iPhone 3GS or newer and have yet to set up the new iOS 5 software that was released last week, here is a brief walkthrough you may want to look at before you go through the process. There's nothing especially tricky about it, but its easier to set up the phone the way you want it from the getgo than to go back and change it later on.

iOS 5 has been unveiled and the iPhone 4S will be available for it users today.  This is the first iPhone release by Apple this fall and the pre-order sales numbers are very impressive. Apple has confirmed that the iPhone 4S pre-orders have touched one million in a single day, leaving behind the iPhone 4 pre-orders sales record and also, the most for any Apple product ever! I believe, the iPhone 4S is already a huge hit.

T-24 Hours Till iOS 5 Launch, Apple Releases iTunes 10.5

    10/11/2011 (Last edited 14 June 2012)
    4514 Views | 0 Replies
If you've read the countdown to iOS 5 post, you already know you'll need the latest version of iTunes on your computer to upgrade your iPad, iPhone (3GS and above) or iPod touch (3rd/4th gen) to iOS 5. For those of you who already heeded this advice, you'll need to re-heed, as Apple released a new version of iTunes (10.5) today. It is being referred to as iTunes in the Cloud, as it will allow your iOS devices and iTunes-enabled computer to sync music and other files with one another wirelessly through iCloud. So long as your already-purchased media is still available on iTunes, you will be able to download it straight to any device through your account.

Save Time by Adding Web Clips to Your iPhone's Home Screen

    10/07/2011 (Last edited 3 July 2013)
    6610 Views | 1 Replies
Quick access is part of what makes mobile apps so great for productivity. You are always 1 touch away via your homescreen. Did you know you can make app-like shortcuts to all of your favorite websites? It may sound trivial, but it's better than waiting for your Safari app to load only to then look through your bookmarks list for the website you want to navigate to. Why not go straight to the website from your home screen? Here's how it works:
1.) Open Safari and type in the URL for your favorite website:
2.) Once the webpage has loaded, tap the screen once. Press the "Go To" button at the bottom center of the screen:
3.) Press Add to Home Screen
4.) Give your shortcut a name (this will appear below the web clip on your homescreen; make sure it's not too long)
5.) There you have it. The web clip will be on your home screen for easy access whenever you need it. Note: Similar to apps on the home screen, web clips can be quickly removed simply by pressing down, holding, then clicking the encircled X that appears in the top left of the app.

Apple's iPhone 4S vs. Samsung's Galaxy Nexus: A Tech Spec Comparison

Now that we know we won't be seeing an iPhone 5 for at least a few more months let's take some time to pit the newly announced iPhone 4S vs. Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Nexus (code named Nexus Prime). These soon-to-be-released smartphones come with upgraded operating systems and are cram packed with top notch hardware, hence will be competing fiercely to win over the consumer this holiday season. The Galaxy Nexus will likely be unveiled at next week's Unpacked event co-hosted by Google and Samsung.

    The iPhones, They Are A-Changin'

    10/05/2011 (Last edited 14 June 2012)
    4827 Views | 0 Replies
Reflecting on yesterday's "Let's talk iPhone" media day, not very many new things jumped out to those listening in. We knew iCloud was coming out in the fall. We knew at least one iPhone would be released just by reading the three word description on the event invitation. Now people are disappointed that the iPhone 4S looks exactly the same as its predacessor. They wanted something leaps and bounds ahead of the 4… THEY WANTED THE 5!

There has been a lot of speculation surrounding when this app would become available after being leaked mid-summer.

What to Expect from Amazon's New Tablet, the Kindle Fire

    09/26/2011 (Last edited 14 June 2012)
    5274 Views | 0 Replies
With less than a week remaining before the anticipated release of the iPhone 5 and iOS 5 on October 4th, Amazon will steal a bit of the show from Apple on Wednesday with the release of its new tablet, dubbed the Kindle Fire. The Fire will not chalk up very well vs. the iPad in terms of performance; it will be comparably smaller in size, have an older/less versatile operating system, much less storage, will lack in features, and will offer distinctly Amazon applications. However, it does come at a much more affordable price of $199 which may be enough to keep music, video, and book lovers locked in as potential buyers. That is to say, some people can get by with their laptop and do not need a full suite of features on their tablet to keep them satisfied.
