Vulnerability Management

The Fiberlink Vulnerability Management service is a comprehensive, always-on solution to the challenges of patch management, vulnerability identification and remediation.

Vulnerability management is critical for effective information security. The majority of cyber attacks exploit known vulnerabilities for which remediation is already available. Protection against these attacks depends entirely on the “time to patch.”

The Fiberlink Vulnerability Management service ensures that mobile and remote workers are protected while they're away from the office, as well as allowing systems administrators to maintain full control of the patching process by deciding which updates to distribute and when.

Assessment, Remediation and Compliance

The Fiberlink Vulnerability Management service proactively identifies and remediates vulnerabilities, such as those associated with Microsoft operating systems, applications, registry settings, and remote device configuration settings. It includes fixes for security flaws in the SANS Institute’s Top-20 Internet Security Attack Targets, and for vulnerabilities reported in OVAL (Open Vulnerability Assessment Language) libraries.

The service continuously checks both network and mobile computers for exceptions, vulnerabilities, and exposures, helping ensure that all endpoints conform to corporate policies, standards, and best practices.

Management

The Vulnerability Management service narrows the window of vulnerability by automatically providing administrators with patches as soon as they become available. Administrators maintain full control over the patching process, and decide which patches and updates to distribute and when.

Benefits of this robust patch management solution include:

  • Simplified targeting and deployment through pre-packaged, pre-tested security patches.
  • Roll-back (for patches that support uninstall) in case a patch triggers unintended consequences.
  • Patch authentication through built-in Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) security and secure hash validation of patch packages.

Visibility and Reporting

The Fiberlink Vulnerability Management service reports and tracks security, vulnerability, and compliance at every level of the enterprise network and on endpoint devices - even when they are not connected to the network. All reports are centralized through a Web-based user interface for easy report generation and device monitoring. A full audit trail provides details of patching actions and patching steps taken on every computer.
