Wi-Fi has become the preferred way for millions of executives, salespeople, field service personnel and other employees with laptops to connect to the Internet and to the enterprise. With Wi-Fi they enjoy broadband access to important applications and data whenever and wherever they need it - without plugging into a wall jack. Workers can be just as productive in hotels, airports, and coffee shops as they are in the company headquarters.

Fiberlink’s Wi-Fi service provides network access through over 65000 and growing Wi-Fi hotspots worldwide. Mobile employees enjoy a fast, simple connectivity experience. Administrators benefit from simple management and excellent cost reporting. And since Fiberlink integrates security with connectivity, enterprise data can be protected on the laptop and across the network – even when using unsecure Wi-Fi connections.

Wide Coverage

Fiberlink’s virtual global network includes over 65000 and growing Wi-Fi hotspots in hotels, convention centers, 23 of the world’s top 25 airports, retail stores, restaurants and coffee shops in 70 countries. Fiberlink’s Wi-Fi footprint includes over 6,700 T-Mobile Hotspot locations in the US in Starbucks, Fedex Kinko locations, Borders bookstores, Hyatt hotels and a wide variety of other retail establishments, hotels, airline clubs and public meeting places.

Simple User Experience

Fiberlink makes connecting with Wi-Fi hotspots easy and reliable for mobile employees. Using Fiberlink’s patent-pending Active Transport Notification™ technology, the Extend360 Agent detects all Wi-Fi hotspots within range.  The Extend360 Agent automatically launches VPN clients, establishes connections, forwards employee authentication credentials, and takes other steps defined by the system administrator.

Mobile employees gain visibility into, and confidence in, the connection process. The user interface of the Extend360 Agent shows how connections are progressing, from the initial click through connection with the corporate network. Real-time status indicators show the status of network connection and indicate whether devices are in compliance with corporate security policies.

At Wi-Fi hotspots that offer free service, Fiberlink's Personal Account connection feature lets employees use their accustomed process for logging on and entering personal credentials.

Administrative Control

Fiberlink’s Wi-Fi service takes most of the work out of managing Wi-Fi connectivity. Network administrators no longer need to perform tasks such as:

  • Negotiating agreements with multiple service providers around the world.
  • Installing connectivity clients on remote systems.
  • Updating mobile computers with new Wi-Fi hotspots and connection procedures
  • Tracking costs from several network carriers.

Organizations receive a single monthly bill, making it easier to track and compare costs across connectivity service providers. Fiberlink’s reports allow administrators to allocate usage costs by departments, and monitor how long and how well users are connecting.

Built-in Security

Wi-Fi connections are subject to a variety of security threats, from “wireless sniffing”(the interception of communications between mobile devices and wireless access points), to “Evil Twin” attacks (bogus hot spots impersonating authentic public access points), to undetected peer-to-peer connections (ad-hoc networks between Wi-Fi wireless networking cards).

Fiberlink’s MaaS360 Mobility Platform™ can protect network traffic at Wi-Fi hotspots by enforcing the use of virtual private networks (VPNs), by ensuring that VPN clients are installed, running, and up to date, and by encrypting network authentication credentials sent via the hotspots.

You can also protect laptops and the data residing on them from hackers, viruses, spyware, loss and theft, and many other security threats with Fiberlink Security Services.
