Mobility-as-a-Service
Establishing an Enterprise Mobility PlatformBecoming a Mobility Enterprise requires businesses to expand mobile computing capabilities, guarantee seamless Internet connectivity, fully protect mobile devices and data from diverse security threats, and demonstrate compliance with policies. These goals can only be accomplished with the help of an Enterprise Mobility Platform. This is a combination of infrastructure elements, operations tools, security applications and other components that can work together to deploy, manage and monitor mobile devices, data and users. The elements and characteristics of such a platform are illustrated in the diagram below. Some of the capabilities required for an Enterprise Mobility Platform are available today for desktop PC and corporate network operations using existing systems management tools. But for the most part, these tools are LAN-locked and not architected to reach out beyond the corporate perimeter or deal with the fast changing mobile environment. Relying on existing systems and technologies creates what can be described as a “Mobile Blind Spot.” And none of these tools can integrate multiple networks, vendors, applications, and systems into a single mobility solution. |
